This week, NetNumber CMO Kim Gibbons attended the Telecom Council Carrier Connections (TC3), that brings together vendors, telcos, investors to discuss the innovations needed by carriers and how to get them to market faster.

Everything will be connected, and this will require telcos to transform into a digital business. Those that do so successfully will drive this new digital world. To enable that transformation, telcos are looking to vendors for innovations in two areas – services and the network core.

Many of the next-generation services shared by the telco speakers are those we’ve heard before – smart home, smart cities, IoT, digital payment, and the like. Services that will enable a telco to provide a unique customer experience – one that is personalized, intuitive and real-time – are in demand.

Telcos are also looking for vendors to innovate in the network core, and to solve some of their most pressing problems. Security, virtualization, analytics, management are all top of mind. And, telcos want flexible, programmable interfaces that provide support their agile development environments.
